Cuba Country Che Fidel Castro Hotel

Cuba 03/14/03 to 03/28/03 with Lauda Air

On 14th of March at 5 o'clock in the morning began our 2 week Trip into the beautiful Caribik. This time we were altogether 11 persons in the age from 19 to 60. Although we did not even know each other; became it a outstanding vacation. After the first problems at the airport in Vienna with the luggage, we could start punctually with the Lauda air. After that 11 hour flight, the joy was very big, as we arrived at the airport at Varadero with pleasant 25 degrees. The first tip became there loose for the greedy luggage carriers. Our hotel, which was called Sol Sirenas Coral had everything which you expect from a 4 star hotel, inclusive enormous pool and garden plant. The sand beach in Varadero is to be over-bid anyway by nothing.

We spent the first days to enjoy and to become acquainted the city of Varadero. Then we booked a hotel in Havana and also the travel with the cross-country bus Viazul by our own. And someone who was never there can’t believe how difficult that is in Cuba. After telephoning and assistance of the concierge for hours we got it. The million-metropolis is as expected a dirty city, overflowed by traffic, with many old houses, where the walls burst, but there are already many beautiful places and lanes. After we projected the taxi travel from the bus station to the hotel welfare (was not completely so safe with the Trabis), we went to the bank promenade to the port and to the Malecon. We also visited the Capitol  as well as the Hemingway bar. On the next day we wanted to visit a cigar factory, but unfortunately on Saturday there was no more guidance, but a man in the sales room showed us like a cigar is manufactured. The museum de la revolution was our next point of program as well as a walk over the Paseo del Prado. In the later afternoon we went aPoolbargain back to Varadero. At the next day a day trip on a catamaran stood on our program. As highlight we were allowed to swim with 2 Dolphins in a sea laboratory. At the beach we undertook a travel with a banana boat and a trip with jet skis, which were for 2 persons. Our last trip went into the south to the bay of pigs, where Fidel Castro wanted to fall the dictator Batista with Cuban guerrillas into the sixties. On the way we visited also an Indian village and a crocodile farm, where we were allowed to touch small crocodiles. We spent the last days again at the hotel beach. Much too early, as at each vacation we had to go the way home. These 14 days were unforgetable for all of us.
